Jan 17, 2024

1942 — 2024

Dee Knoch Holmgren was born July 2, 1942 in Long Beach, California to Naomi Chaffee and Joseph Rousseau. She was raised in Canoga Park, California along with her brother Ralph. She married James Knoch in 1960. They had 2 daughters, Kris and Kori and 2 adopted sons, Ken and Bobby. They also participated in the foster care program and had many boys come and stay with the family through the years. Two who stayed close were Loren and Mike. Dee and Jim joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were able to be sealed as a family in 1965. Dee had many callings in the church over the years, but her favorite was in the primary.

Dee owned a party business called Dee’s Party Service. There she worked as a professional clown and was able to bring joy to many children while entertaining at their birthday parties. Jim passed away in 1976. Dee was able to find love again, and married Warren Holmgren. They moved from California to Roy, Utah in 1977. They were married for 46 years before Warren passed away in October 2023. Dee and Warren were co-owners of Warren’s Train Shop in the Ogden Union Station. She spent many hours working there. She also worked for the Weber County School District with special needs kids. Her last assignment was at Canyon View School in the Life Skills program.

As her health declined, her granddaughter and their family moved to her home to help take care of her. They were able to build a strong relationship with her and she loved seeing and hearing what the kids were doing every day. She sold her home in Roy in 2023 and this past year she resided at Auberge Assisted Living where was the bingo queen.

Dee loved her kids, grandkids, and greats. She had 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Ralph Rousseau, children Ken (Jana) Knoch, Kris (Brad) Barker, Bobby Knoch, stepdaughters Tammy (Bill) Lapthorne, Debbie Holmgren and foster sons Loren Brooks and Mike Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Jim and Warren, and daughter Kori.

The family would like to thank Auberge Assisted Living and all those who lovingly took care of her there.
