Cheryl Kay Sowers
1954 – 2024
Cheryl Kay Sowers, known as Shug or Shugie, passed the evening of Jan 16, ’24. Surrounded by family in the ICU after a battle with interstitial pneumonia. Shug, an organ donor, will go on to be a hero to others in death just as she was in life. Many thanks from our family to the fantastic staff at Ogden Regional who took exceptional care of Shugie!
Born in Ogden UT, August 13, 1954, parents Chuck and JoAnn Panter. She was preceded in death by Mother JoAnn Nelson, and brother Randy. Survived by husband Richard “Dick” Sowers, Father Charles “Chuck” Panter, siblings Judy (Lonnie) Delzer and Curt (Elizabeth) Panter.
She was so very proud of all her children and grandchildren. And all her nieces and nephews she loved like her own kids.
Her father, Chuck introduced her to a lifelong love of skiing. Her mother, JoAnn taught her to welcome everyone like family and to be inclusive. Her passion of legendary skiing earned her the ski run at PowMow named aptly “Shug’r Bowl”, Experts only!
She loved everything outdoors. She claimed the tag line “Live the Love and Love the Ride.” And truly lived it!
She was introduced to her other true love, Dick Sowers by his sister Barb. They married on Jan 4, 1996. Just days after Shug’s parents celebrated their anniversary.
She is welcomed by her Mother JoAnn and brother Randy and will be taking endless turns down Shug’r Bowl and dancing on the tables in the Powder Keg of our hearts!
