Marilyn Britzell Bailey

Jan 26, 2024

1942 – 2024

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Marilyn Britzell Bailey, returned to her Heavenly home on January 23, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born on January 4, 1942 in Logan, Utah to Don O. and Mary Stone Britzell. Marilyn loved her family and had a close relationship with her younger sister, Janice. As a child, she had wonderful memories of rushing through her homework, grabbing her ice skates, and heading to Central Park Rink.

Marilyn had a great love of music and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and singing. She sang in her school choirs and sang beautiful duets with her sister. The family always enjoyed their singing of “Silver Bells” at the annual Christmas party. Marilyn, along with some of her friends, formed a singing group, where they performed in church and throughout the community. She graduated from Logan High and Seminary. She loved her fellow Grizzlies, and went to all her high school reunions.

She had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and just naturally drew people to her. Marilyn met the love of her life, Lon, at the Spudnut Drive-in, where she worked as a carhop. They were sealed in the Logan Temple on April 27, 1962. While Lon attended Utah State University, Marilyn worked at First National Bank in Logan. They bought their first and only home in Roy in 1967 and raised three amazing children. She loved being a stay-at-home mom, was a great cook and prided herself in a clean, organized home. She also worked as a “demo” lady at Sam’s Club for 17 years.

Marilyn lived a lifetime of service and dedication to the Lord, her family, and those around her. She delivered loaves of her delicious homemade bread to hundreds of those who were sick, lonely, or just needed something to brighten their day. She was always one to send a card or a note written in her beautiful handwriting. Marilyn remembered and celebrated and attended every special event in her family’s lives, including birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, sporting events and other activities. Her loved ones always received and looked forward to a call on their birthdays, in which she would sing Happy Birthday to them. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. In her faithful activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Primary president, chorister, organist, pianist, and served for seven years with her husband as building host missionaries at Temple Square. She was a wonderful example of Christlike living and had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by her eternal sweetheart Lon, her son Brent (Jodi), grandchildren McKenzie (Trisdan), and Tyce (Cosette), her daughter Jill (Mike Sexton), grandchildren Bailey, Brayden (Karlie), Bryson (Aubrey), and Brinley (Keanau), son Brian (Holly), and grandchildren Erin, Brianna, and Isaac. One great grandchild, Oliver, with 2 more coming soon. She is also survived by her sister Janice.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her doctors and nurses, especially Dr. Michael Hessenauer for his attentive and compassionate care, Dr Mark Lewis, McKay Dee Hospital Staff, and Inspiration Hospice.

A viewing will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Myers Mortuary in Roy from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Another viewing will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Roy 5th Ward chapel, 5127 S. 2400 W., Roy, UT, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Wellsville cemetery.
