LuAnne Quist John Slater

1933 ~ 2024

True to herself even at the end, Mom has requested notification of her death be kept simple and concise.

LuAnne Quist John Slater came into this world on June 16, 1933. She passed into the next realm on July 5, 2024, back into the arms of her patiently waiting, beloved husband Lyle John; cherished parents C. Ivan and Cleo Cornia Quist, adored brother S. Ivan, sister Edna; treasured extended family and friends who had gone on before her.

To our immense sorrow, she leaves behind her children: David Slater (Dana), Dixie Cragun, Kenneth John, Nancy John (Keith), Wendy Sparrow (Shawn), Guy Slater (Melanie), and Kyle Jolley; as well as numerous grand and great-grandchildren, treasured brother Larry Quist, many nieces and nephews, and a wide expanse of dear friends. We are especially grateful for the constant care and companionship of Marge Haviland.

To our great joy, she remains forever in our hearts and grants us each these final gifts: unconditional love, incredible work ethic, independence, respect and love for nature and all wild things in it; culture through art, books, poetry, and travel; frugality but never forgetting that you can’t take it with you; wicked sense of humor, spontaneity; tolerance, inclusivity, acceptance, and kindness; service and selflessness, always leaving the world better than we found it.

And finally, in her own words of farewell: “Love you most, me, Mom.”

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 9:30 ~ 10:30 A.M. with a Graveside to follow at 11:00 A.M. at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
