Jul 29, 2024

December 26, 1927 — July 26, 2024

Eva Jane Christensen Marsh 96, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend passed away July 26, 2024, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.

Eva Jane was born in Brigham City, Utah on December 26, 1927. The daughter of Raymond and Jane Yates Watkins Christensen was welcomed by her older brother Raymond W (Chris) on a cold winter night in their small home on second east and first south. Eva Jane attended elementary school in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School and Seminary in 1946. While at Box Elder she participated in a variety of groups that developed her positive approach to future challenges in her life. She pursued her love of music by participating in the high school band and the glee club as well as specialty singing groups. As a member of the B-Ettes she maintained her grade point average to meet the club’s academic requirements and served as Editor of the School Yearbook, “The Boomerang.”

As a Senior Class officer and member of the Student Council she was able to assist in making decisions that could benefit the entire student body as well as future enrollees. Through her later years she continued her education by attending the Utah State University Extension Program in accounting and computer sciences and at Weber State University in pursuit of a Political Science major. Courses in State & Local Government, Business Law and Constitutional Law developed a keen interest in local politics and provided a great resource for her twenty years of service on the Perry City Board of Adjustment as well as her many years as part of the legal staff for FJ Management Inc. (formerly Flying J Inc.) where she retired at the age of eighty-eight.

Her civic involvement did not end with her city position. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club of Brigham City until it was disbanded, and spearheaded the Peach Day Window Display Program during her term as President. She was also a member of the Sego Lily Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many teaching and leadership positions. She devoted many years to the youth programs of the church as an officer and teacher in the Primary and the Young Women’s organizations. She was an officer and teacher in the Sunday School and an officer and teacher in the Relief Society. Her most challenging assignment was as the Willard Utah Stake Historian for a period of ten years and probably the most rewarding was the fifty plus years as a Relief Society Visiting Teacher. She had been the Sacrament Meeting Program editor for the First Ward in Perry for many years.

Eva Jane married Albert B. Watson on June 28, 1946, and they became the parents of four daughters Linda Lee Watson Williams (deceased), Alicia Ann Watson (David) Olsen, Kathryn Kay Watson Niederhauser (deceased), and Carol Christine Watson (Kenneth) Porter. Eva Jane and Albert were divorced in 1963. She later married Eugene M. Marsh in August 1966 in the St. George Temple and added four more stepchildren to make a blended family unit. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2009. Some of her most vivid memories of the early years of their union were the summer visits when all eight children were with them under one roof.

In 1969 Eva Jane and Eugene opened the doors to “Eva Jane’s Interiors” and began an adventure that lasted over forty years. Her custom drapery work became known throughout Utah and southern Idaho.

Eva Jane is survived by her two daughters and three stepchildren, thirty grandchildren and forty-seven plus great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her posterity is numerous. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, her two daughters Linda and Kathryn and a stepson.
