Wayne Whiting

Jun 8, 2024

After valiantly fighting for many years, Wayne D. Whiting passed away from complications of Parkinson Disease on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at Autumn Park Assisted Living Facility. It was Wayne's wish to contribute to the medical field by donating his body to science.

Wayne was born in April 1938, to Rachel Spackman and Robert Frederick Whiting in Ogden Utah. Wayne loved growing up in Ogden, being outdoors and spending time with his family, and enjoyed earning and saving money. Wayne loved to collect and restore antique cars; these incredible cars would compete and win many cars shows around the state.

Wayne was an Ogden City Firefighter and would often share many stories of life as a firefighter and became an amazing cook from the many years spent at the firehouse. Tired of always being cold, Wayne retired his snow shovel at the same time he retired from Ogden City and moved to a hot St. George to never to drive in snow for the rest of his years.

Wayne married the late Maren B Whiting on March 15, 1959, and together they raised four children. Maren and Wayne would later divorce.

Wayne married Micki D on April 7th, 1993, in Parker Arizona and she became his 'partner in crime'. Together they had many adventures traveling around the United States delivering cars, managing condominiums in Hawaii, and working other odd jobs in St George. Wayne continued to tinker on cars and he and Micki D spent an abundant amount of time in Mesquite Nevada. Together they laughed a lot, enjoyed their retirement, and made many lifelong friends along the way. Wayne's heart was broken when his sweetheart Micki D passed away in February 2020.

Not only a kind and patient husband to Micki D, but Wayne was also a wonderful stepfather to her 5 children, and a patient grandfather and great-grand father as well. There are wonderful memories of climbing the mountain behind Grandpa Wayne's and Grandma Micki's house, spending weekends, and eating loads of Wayne's Firehouse Spaghetti. Wayne never complained when the house was filled to capacity as long as he was in control of the TV.

Wayne's family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Autumn Park Assisted Living Facility and Dr Scott Foster for their love and great care of our father, and Coral Desert Rehabilitation Center and Canyon Home Care and Hospice for helping during his most difficult and challenging days. We can never thank you enough!

A Celebration of Life in Wayne Whiting's honor will be held on Saturday, June 22nd 2:00pm - 4:00 pm in the Conference Room at the Best Western Settler's Point, 1294 Hospitality Way, Washington UT 84780. Please call 435/592-3154 or 435/592-0278 for more information.
