1940 – 2024

Sharon Jensen passed away on Thursday February 28, 2024 in South Jordan, Utah. She was born on October 25, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Bettie G. Hickey and Lawrence Jay Bullock. In October of 1959 she married Rodney E. Jensen in Elko, Nevada and they had two children. Mom spent much of her youth on her grandparents Hickey Ranch where she developed a love of animals, especially horses. She decided at a young age that she wanted to race horses. Mom learned how to play piano and the drums at a young age. She loved to hunt and shoot target rifles. There was rarely a person that could outshoot her. She loved collecting antiques and going rock hunting collecting arrowheads. She also loved playing in her dance band. But most of all she loved her cats and horses. She got into horse racing in the early 1980’s and her dad developed a lasting friendship with her trainer Blaine Hadley. They got their first winning racehorse in 1987 named Diamond Faucet and went on to flat track and chariot race for the next 35 years. They had many winners on the track. Mom had many physical struggles over the last 7 years but mom was a “tough old broad” and hung on until the very end with her family by her side. She is survived by her children Todd (Linda) and Sharmie (Mike); granddaughters Mikayla and Dannel; great granddaughter Baylee; two step grandchildren John and Julie; and a sister Terrie Beltran. She was preceded in death by her parents. her brother Guy and her husband Rodney. Mom, you are free now and we hope you are with dad finding your next great racehorse. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the American Legion Hall in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. A viewing will start at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Fort Bridger Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the Legion Hall immediately after the graveside service. https://www.crandallfhevanston.com/obituaries/bettie-jensen
