Bettye Harsha

Mar 4, 2024

Bettye (85) passed away Thursday Feb 29, 2024, at the Davis Hospital due to complications from diabetes, fortunately she was in outstanding health until the final days. She was able to manage her Diabetes right up to the end after a 68-year battle.

Bettye was born in Lipan Texas on July 6th, 1938, the daughter of Joe and Dora Baker. Bettye has a brother Billie Baker currently living in Las Cruces New Mexico.

As a teen she was an avid water skier on the Pacos River.

Bettye and her girlfriends spotted Bills red and white 1956 chevy convertible pulling into town one afternoon as he was seeking employment after discharge from the Marines.

Bettye was the one to gather Bills attention. Bettye and Bill were married on May 29, 1959 at Bettye’s hometown in Carlsbad New Mexico.

Bettye and Bill eventually moved back to Bills home state of Utah.

Son Brent was born in 1963 followed by Blake in 1968.

After spending 15 years in the Hunter area of Utah. Bettye and her family moved to West Weber Utah from 1978 to 2002. Once Bettye and Bill retired, they moved back to Bills hometown area of Price Utah, December of 2023 we were able to move them back to West Weber to spend her last months with family and friends.

Bettye spent the earlier years of marriage being a stay home mom raising her 2 sons and volunteering at local assisted living and Hospice facilities.

As her sons got older, she entered the working world where she was an executive secretary at Thiokol Corporation and then moved onto Flameco Barnes.

She was a very artistic and talented individual that enjoyed her horses, sewing, painting, ceramics and many other craft related items. She had received many ribbons for her entries at the state and local fairs.

I believe her true passion was sitting behind her sewing and quilting machines, which she would do for hours every day.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Dora Baker, Grandson Zach Harsha.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Harsha; two sons, Brent (Karen) Harsha and Blake Harsha; Brother Billie (Karen) Baker, 5 grandchildren– Kyler (Lyndsey) Harsha, Chelsie (Eric) Sumner, Chantel (Kellen) Heim, Jake, and Ryker Harsha, 5 Great grandchildren Trae Johnson, Codie Sumner, Kaicen Harsha, Eastin Sumner and Jordyne Heim.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the West Weber Cemetery, 4592 W 950 No., West Weber.
