Chief Master Sergeant (ret) Edgar L Trout jr.

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Chief Master Sergeant (ret) Edgar L Trout jr. in Syracuse Utah. He was 88 years old.

On March 3, 2024 Edgar succumbed to heart failure complicated by pneumonia and Multiple Myeloma at home with his family.

Born in January 8, 1936 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, son of Edna Catherine Murphy and Edgar L Trout of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Edgar married Joan D Gray on May 19, 1956. They had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2021; she proceeded him in death in October 22, 2021. Joan was 81 years old.

Edgar was the first in his family to become a high school graduate at Eddystone High School where he participated in many athletic teams. After high school Edgar joined the U.S. Air Force and became a mechanic then flight engineer on C-130’s. His assignments included: Mountain Home Idaho, Ernst Harmon Newfoundland, Pease AFB New Hampshire, Westover Massachusetts, Lockbourne AFB Ohio, where he became a C-130 Flight Engineer. He was then assigned to Clark AFB Philippines and flew air sea rescue then continued in Vietnam. Edgar was then assigned to Pope AFB North Carolina. He joined the 6514th test sq. and went to Edwards AFB California, working top secret projects that included (now declassified) drones and the F-111. His final station was Hill AFB Utah 1973 until he retired in 1984. In 1989 Edgar and Joan moved to Adkins Texas when Joan was reassigned to Randolph AFB Tx. for her job. Edgar then flew for Southern Air until Nov 1990 when he had a heart attack. They continued to live in Texas for 30 years. When his wife Joan passed in 2021, he moved in with his son Edgar and his wife Raynette. During his service he served during Korea, three tours of Vietnam 1968-1972 (also Cambodia & Laos) and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 8 clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 clusters.

Retired Chief Master Sergeant Edgar L. Trout was proceeded in death by his wife of 65 years Joan in 2021. Edgar is survived by his two children, his son Edgar L. Trout III & his wife Raynette, His Daughter Paula J. Flink & husband William. He has eleven Grandchildren, Jeffery C Watts, Heather Markus, Dr. Jay Devin Watts, Jennifer Hamblin, Heidy Murphy, Katherine T. Trout (Snow), Robert Flink, Alexander Flink, Marla Willard, Greg Thalman, Sean Flink and Seventeen Great grandchildren Trent Hamblin, Amanda Markus, Darin Hamblin, Nate Markus, Michael Murphy, Lillian Watts, Sybrina Murphy, Dillon Watts, Leila Watts, Kortni Hamblin, Katarina Flink, Anna Rosenvall, Marley Watts, Emma Rosenvall, Remy Willard, Carol J. Snow and Vincent Snow.
