Lewis Riley Taylor

Mar 7, 2024

October 1, 1944 — March 5, 2024

Lewis Riley Taylor (79) passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 after a valiant battle with dementia. Born October 1, 1944 to Karma and Bill Taylor in Malad, ID. He spent his childhood in Ogden, UT and graduated from Ben Lomond High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Weber State and his master’s degree from Utah State University.

The best decision he made in this life was to marry his high school sweetheart, Jolinda Hart in 1966 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised their 4 boys in Roy, Utah while he was a math teacher at Wahlquist Jr. High. They later moved to Clinton. He loved being a teacher and coach. He was an avid reader and life-long learner.

Lewis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years serving as a bishop, stake president and patriarch. He strived to live his life based on his firm testimony of Jesus Christ and spent the majority of his life helping others on their spiritual journeys. He served a mission in Edmonton, Canada with his eternal companion Jolinda and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. He was always a work in progress but a wonderful example of what it meant to be a good husband and father.

He loved to spend his free time on the golf course with his friends. Over the past few years as his memory slowly faded, he was always smiling and positive. The family is grateful for those that assisted with his care.

Lewis is survived by his wife Jolinda, his sister Joy (Glen) Olpin, and his four boys: Kelly and Nancy, Lance and Robyn, Todd and Yvonne, Troy and Kaeli and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Roy Stake Center, 4900 South 2000 West. The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Stake Center.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
