Don Richards Cook, 89, of North Ogden, passed away March 11, 2024.

Don was born August 26, 1934, in Cedar City, Utah to Merrill Eugene Cook and Margaret Iva Richards Cook. His family lived in Castle Dale where Merrill worked as the Wasatch County Agent. In 1948, Merrill passed away, and the family moved to Logan, Utah. Don graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology.

On September 17, 1954, he married Marva Daines, a native of Hyde Park, Utah. Together, they raised five children, primarily in Brigham City, Utah, La Palma, California, and Pleasant View, Utah.

Don was also an Air Force ROTC graduate and entered active duty after working briefly as a test engineer for Rocketdyne in California. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he continued his career with Thiokol Corporation, Browning, Fiber Science, and Ford Aerospace. He retired after returning to Thiokol to work on the Peacekeeper missile program.

Don was a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ and spent many years in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Bishop of the Brigham City 19th Ward. He and Marva served a full-time mission to Durban, South Africa and Don spent many years as a temple worker in the Ogden temple. Together Don and Marva dedicated their lives to their family and raised their children in love, teaching them the gospel of their Savior. They are eternally beloved and remembered for that.

Don is survived by his siblings: Paul Cook, Bobbi (Reed) Saunders and Myrlene (Tim) Thorpe, children: Suann (Doug) Cannon, Layne (Kelley) Cook, Douglas (Jennifer) Cook, Julie (Shelby) Horn, and Carol (Darin) Day and 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville Stake Center, 1569 N. 200 W., Harrisville, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to services at the church from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Interment at the Hyde Park, Utah cemetery, 400 E. Center St., Hyde Park, Utah.
