Ethel Isaacson

Mar 15, 2024

1934 — 2024

Ethel Jean Isaacson, an elect daughter of God, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2024.

She was born to Arnold and Jean Youngberg on January 8, 1934, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Much of her youth was spent with her Uncle Mel and Aunt Esta and her Grandpa Rollins, who was an exceptional example to her of kindness and service. She lived a full life surrounded by her 7 children and her late husband Fred Dee Isaacson, whom she married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 9, 1954. They shared 29 years of marriage together until his passing in 1983. Fred was the love of her life; they made and shared many traditions and memories that will last an eternity.

Ethel enjoyed her many years of work in the health care field. She worked for many physicians, one of her favorites being Dean Tanner of Ogden Utah. She was employed for Intermountain Healthcare by 35+ years and consulted in long term drug and youth facilities. She was a member of the American Medical Record Association and the American Association of the Medical Transcriptionists, having held leadership positions in both state organizations.

Affectionately known as “Grammy I”, Moms greatest joy in life was watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at family picnics, barbecues, campouts, weddings, graduations, and ball games. She had an amazing gift of words that were expressed in her many poems, leaving a legacy of love for generations to come. She had a love of service that was exemplified through her callings as Relief Society President and youth Sunday School teacher. Our mom’s life was focused on the Savior and his example. Mom magnified kindness and compassion just as He did.

Our sweet mother was a light to all. She will be forever missed. but never forgotten especially by her 7 children: Kim Dee Isaacson (Debbie), Michelle Prisbrey (Sandy), Sue Covington (Lonnie), Jon Isaacson (Patti), and Christee Jorgensen (Gary.) Mom was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Kaseman, her son Cary Lee Isaacson, and his wife Judi, as well as her sister Eleanor Ewing and husband Dennis. Grammy I cherished and adored each and everyone of her 24 grandchildren and 60 and a half great- grandchildren.

Sincere thanks to all those whose provided care and support to our mother while residing at Spring Gardens.

Her funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024, 12:00 PM at Myers Mortuary, 845 South Washington Boulevard, Ogden Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to services, from 10:30am to 11:45am at the Mortuary. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden Utah.
