Michael Angelo Maggiora

Mar 15, 2024

November 5th, 1958 — February 15th, 2024

In loving memory of Michael Angelo Maggiora, who was known to many as, 65, born in The Dalles, Oregon to Alice Lee & Angelo Della aka “Randy” Maggiora. Mike passed away peacefully in his Brigham City, Utah home with his family after a battle with throat cancer.

Mike spent most of his life in the beautiful state of Oregon. After tragically losing his father when he was 7 years old, their family moved from the Portland area to the sleepy coastal town of Port Orford, where he spent his younger years. This is where Mike’s love of the ocean began. During middle school, Mike’s family moved just outside of Molalla, Oregon, where he attended Maple Grove Elementary, a 2-roomed school house, on a hill. His 8th grade graduation is where he met his first wife, Kristin Gripp. He continued on to play football at Molalla High School. Mike’s family later moved to Bend, where he followed shortly after when he was a junior in highschool.

In Bend, Mike began working as a cook at the River House with his brother Kevin. He married his highschool sweetheart, bought a house, had his first 2 daughters, and started his own painting business, while working side general contracting jobs. Mike was a very hard worker. Mike’s selflessness & reliability made him someone people could always count on. He maintained very close relationships with his friends, family, & his mother who were also in the Central Oregon area.

While Mike’s marriage ended with his first wife in 1991, they remained friends. Mike remarried shortly after, however that marriage ended in 1995. Mike moved to Utah shortly after, where he met his third wife Didia “Julie” Maggiora. They bought a house in Ogden and Mike had his second two daughters. Mike worked as a superintendent for Hadley Brothers for 14 years until he left for a position with Sinclair, where he retired in 2021. Mike’s marriage ended in 2014, however, that relationship also remained amicable. Mike was just that type of person with everyone he met. He exhibited goodwill with everyone he knew.

Mike’s presence was marked by his strength, hard work, & unique sense of humor. Despite his imposing stature, he had a very gentle, & caring nature that endeared him to many who knew him well. He dedicated himself to ensuring his family had everything they needed, providing love, support, & guidance every step of the way. His friends and family knew him to enjoy his spare time outdoors, either on the water, in the sand, or on a pair of skis. If he wasn’t outdoors, he was watching his all-time favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers.

Mike leaves behind a legacy of love as he was cherished by so many. He leaves behind four daughters, Leslie, Jenny, Micail, & Micah as well as four granddaughters, Jade, Jillian, Gabrielle, & Luna who he loved dearly. Also treasuring his memory is his brother Greg (Sue) Maggiora, brother Mark (Patti) Maggiora, brother Kevin (Kathy) Maggiora, sister Lauri (Mark) Bauder, sister Gloria (Gary) Goss, sister Linda Thompson, & brother Chris (Connie) Maggiora. As well as many nieces & nephews including Kimberly (Joe) Vanich, Alisyn (Sean) Stratton, Rebecca Maggiora, Randy (Jessica) Henrikson, James Henrikson, Khali (Scott) Gerken, Shanda Howard, Jordan (Raquel) Maggiora, John Maggiora, Daniel Maggiora, Melissa Maggiora, along with several cousins, great-nieces & great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew Anthony “Tony” Maggiora, his aunts Betty, Marie, Tippie, Gwen, & Uncle George.

May he rest in peace, knowing that he made a profound impact on the lives of those around him. A celebration of life for Mike will be held this early summer on the Oregon Coast. Details to follow.
