Adrian Peter Nelson 88, of Perry, passed away, Monday March 18, 2024 in Perry, Utah. He was born at home, December 14, 1935, in Perry, Utah, and was the second child and second son of Merlin John and Frances Caroline Peterson Nelson.

Adrian loved growing up in Perry. He liked to hunt ducks, deer, and pheasants. He also enjoyed ice skating, baseball, and riding horses. His dad, Merlin, farmed and so there was plenty of work to do. He milked cows when he was really young, grew hay, grain, lots of tomatoes, peas for cannery, picked peaches, cherries, and apricots. He really enjoyed threshing time. They would go from farm to farm helping each other. The farmer’s wives took turns putting on a big meal. Afterwards, the younger boys would bike down to the old C.C. Hole and go skinny dipping to get the chaff off.

He attended and graduated from Box Elder High School. He played the trombone in the high school band and marched in the parades. During those years he also really enjoyed playing baseball and church softball.

Adrian married Janace Mace on September 30, 1955 in Perry, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 15, 1993. Janace recently passed away and they were happily married for 68 years.

He hauled coal the first year of his married life and then worked for Jensen Construction and also milked his own cows. He then hired on at Thiokol Chemical Corp. in 1959 and retired 32 years later. He said that it was a good job to raise a family.

Adrian liked camping, going on vacations, deer hunting, riding motorcycles, boating, and fishing with the family. He always had horses and really enjoyed riding them. After retiring, Adrian and Janace spent their winters in Yuma, AZ for 30 years and in the summers, they enjoyed raising and sharing their harvest, especially peaches, corn, and berries.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities. He enjoyed doing name extraction at the family history center for six years in Danish extraction and also did home name extraction on the computer for four years.
