Hendrick (Hank) Zwart

Mar 29, 2024

Hendrick (Hank) Zwart, age 85, passed away 17 March 2024 at the Yuma Arizona Hospital. He was born in Liedan, Holland, on 2 May 1938. His parents were Hendrick Zwart, Sr, and Dingena P Kleinjan. His family came to Ogden Utah in April 1953 to live and enjoy life in America, and they did just that.

He attended Ogden High School but found it difficult learning the English language. There were teachers of the Holland area and took him “under their wing.” He began working in the janitorial area before and after school. He continued with Ogden City schools as custodian and custodian supervisor for 30 years. Another 20 years was devoted to being a custodial supervisor on a part-time basis.

In 1957 he married Linda Abbot and had two sons: Hendrick Wayne and Ronald William. He married Ruth Pullam, and she passed after 30 years of marriage. In 2012 he married Dolores Longfellow. He loved his fishing days at Flaming Gorge with his dad and friends going every Friday and back home Saturday night. Sunday was the fish fry for the family. So much fun. He also was a pigeon racer beginning in Holland and lasting many years here, He had 200 pigeons, and they won many races for him. He has trophies too numerous to count. He loved it.

Hank was predeceased by Linda, Ruth, Ronald, and Pam Waldron.

He is survived by his wife Dolores, his son Wayne, sister Willy, Kitty Call, Penny Coltran, Tina Hummel, Brad and Vince Longfellow, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park on April 1, 2024, with a Viewing from 1:00-1:45 and Services at 2:00pm.
