David Jay Boydston

May 6, 2024

1956 — 2024

Taylor, UT – It has been said, if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Dave Boydston exemplified this. Sadly, Dave passed away at the age of 68 on April 30, 2024, surrounded by family.

Dave was born March 31, 1956, in Ogden, Utah. He was the second child of four siblings born to Jess Boydston and Donna Mae (Anderson) Hess. The family moved to Dayton, Ohio, and soon returned to their roots in Taylor (Ogden), Utah. He graduated from the current Weber High School in 1974. As a General Contractor he could build anything, but his passion was flying. Dave would do anything to get his flight hours, including crop dusting, spotting brine shrimp over the Great Salt Lake, and flying skydivers, while also mentoring new pilots, eventually landing his dream job with Boman & Kemp Companies.

Dave’s enthusiasm with flying led to his employment as a corporate pilot to the Kemp family and a Western Regional Sales Representative, where he was employed at the time of his passing. Over the course of his 26-year career, the Kemps welcomed Dave and his entire family into their lives. With his wife Stacie by his side, he traveled all over visiting numerous states and countries making friends along the way. His personality was outgoing and contagious; he was welcoming to all, and strangers always left as friends.

Dave’s love of flying was surpassed only by his love of his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a wonderful life with Stacie and was an amazing father. He loved to spoil his grandchildren by taking them on special trips. He also loved hosting family parties, including the infamous DBP (Dam Boydston Party) where you were never a bystander because he pulled everyone into the fun. Dave was the glue that bonded the families together, and he will be greatly missed.

Dave is survived by his wife Stacie, and five children: Brandon (Paula) Boydston, Jamie Boydston (Josh) Johnstun, Kari Boydston (Mark) Izatt, Josh (Carly) Florence and Erica (Brent) Allred as well as 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and bonus grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Ken Boydston, Larry Boydston, Lisa (Chris) Gilstrap, Rebecca Boydston (Anthony) Smart and Stepmother Susan Boydston. Dave is preceded in death by his father Jess and mother Donna Mae.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024, 11:00 am at Leavitt’s Mortuary and Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT. Family will receive friends at Leavitt’s one hour prior to service, as well as the prior evening, May 10, 2024, from 5pm – 8pm.
