Jeanette Allred Dalton

May 6, 2024

Our beloved mother, Jeanette Allred Dalton, returned to her heavenly home after a 3-year battle with Alzheimer’s on May 3, 2024. Jeanette was born on July 25, 1935 in Astoria, Oregon, daughter of Eliza Wright Allred and Isaac Guy Allred. She was married August 18, 1955 to Malcolm Matheson Dalton. Their vows were later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 20, 1985. They were married 69 wonderful years.

Jeanette’s family moved from Oregon in 1940. She attended Ogden City Schools, studying to be a stenographer or secretary. She was employed as a steno for Ogden City for a number of years then transferred to the Pacific Fruit Express Railroad for 3 years. Later, she managed dental offices, first being Dr. Carl Wallace then Dr. Mark V. Cowley and retired after 26 years.

Mom’s dearest hobbies were gardening and piece quilting. Many of her quilts were made for family. Her love of flowers resulted in a beautiful backyard gathering area for her Sunday family dinners. She also loved to cook and decorate her home.

She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in all of the auxiliary callings, including Stake Relief Society President. Mom loved to teach and share the gospel. In later years she and her husband were service missionaries at the St. Benedicts Manor in Ogden and Ogden Temple ordinance worker. Mom had a gift of making friends, showing love and interest in others, and devoting her life to service. We will miss her contagious smile, laugh and fun outgoing personality.

A special thanks to Enhabit hospice nurse, Jennifer, and Avamere’s memory care team for their loving care of our mom.

Jeanette is survived by her husband Malcolm, children Mark Dalton (Nicole), Pauli Wheeler (Doug), and Jennifer Burrows (Brian), 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit on May 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery, May 9, 10 a.m.
