Mark Treseder Bateman

May 8, 2024

Mark Treseder Bateman departed from this world on May 5, 2024 in the comfort of his home in Pleasant View Utah. Mark was born in Ogden, Utah, On May 11, 1961 to George G. Bateman and Karen Treseder. He grew up in Pleasant View, graduated from Weber High School in 1979, went on an LDS mission to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1980, and spent over thirty years at the IRS, retiring in 2018.

Mark was a dedicated outdoorsman, relishing the thrill of hiking and camping. His adventurous spirit led him on many journeys. His favorite places to explore were close to his home in Utah, whether up in the eastern mountains or in the west desert. He never went anywhere without his camera, capturing the beauty around him on his adventures. Mark had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge which was evident in his large library of books and maps. He loved studying history–everything from early American history to religious history. He was an avid fan of Herb Albert. He loved railroads and trains (another subject for his camera). His memory amazed everyone as he pulled random facts and dates out of nowhere. He liked taking his children out with him, especially on hikes, drives, or out shooting (he loved everything history, after all–including old guns).

Mark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the words of Alma from The Book of Mormon: “Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection–Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body. . . are taken home to that God who gave them life.” (Alma 40:11) Mark is now at peace and has returned to the God who gave him life.

Mark is survived by his parents, George and Karen Bateman; his sons, Mark Bateman and Mason Bateman; his daughter, Mackenzie Bateman; and his siblings, Ammon Bateman, Julie Bridge, and Michelle Nelson. Along with his daughter-in-law Elizabeth and two grandchildren, Aaron and Macie with one on the way.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm located at the church building at 3035 N. 1325 W, Pleasant View, UT 84414. There will also be a viewing in the same location prior to services from 12:30-1:30 pm.
