Roxanne Marie DeGroot, Daughter of Donald and June Meyocks (Pronounced Meeks), was born on September 16, 1951 in Belle Plain, Iowa. Passed away on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024.

Roxanne was born into a harness horse racing family. With her parents, brother Michael, and sisters Mary and Joyce, they traveled the U.S. racing Harness horses.

In 1968 she married John F. Riley. In 1970 she gave birth to Melissa Ann Riley, And in 1974 she gave birth to Michael Patrick Riley. She was later divorced in 1978.

In 1980 she met the Love of her life, Dean DeGroot, and was married two years later. Together, as one family, they relocated from Copperas Cove, Texas to Roy, Utah in 1982.

Roxanne worked at the West Fort Hood NCO club, and for a short time in the Hospital Infant Nursery. She worked at Mr.Gatti’s Pizza with her best friend Linda, in Texas. After relocating, she started a 24 year long career with McDonald’s. She advanced quickly with the company and became an Area Supervisor over numerous stores. She retired in 2006.

After enjoying retirement, she still had the desire for contact with the public and cashiered for Ace Hardware. Of course, she would advance to store manager. The store was sold to South Fork Hardware, and naturally she managed that store too. Retiring finally in 2017. Roxanne loved to be out on the boat, or riding our horses, or riding on the motorcycle with Dean. She loved to sit on the porch watching the morning sun as she drank her coffee. Although, she really preferred to just read a good book.

Dean and Roxanne were married for 42 years, and together for 44. She was a loving Mother, Wife, and Friend and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday May 31st From 5pm until 10 pm at the Hope Community Center at 5051 s 1900 w, Roy, Utah.
