Joe Houston Dickey

May 23, 2024

Joe Houston Dickey was born on 5 Jan 1937 in Brigham City, UT to William Dickey and Francis (Quire-Dickey) Hougarrd. Joe returned peacefully to our Heavenly Father on 3 May 2024.

He is survived by his sister Betty and preceded in death by his other siblings, William, Mildred, LouDean, Margaret, and Kathi.

Joe had six children: Patty, Joy, Joe, Virgil, Rodney (deceased) and Rebecca (deceased).

Joe grew up working on a farm and has always loved horses, cowboys, and of course, John Wayne. His career spanned various jobs ranging from ranch hand, sheet metal mechanic, maintenance man at his friend’s trailer home park, and one of his favorite jobs was working at Bogey’s Club in Clearfield.

Joe had a deep kindness and love for people which was evident in the way he treated those around him. He was compassionate and caring towards those he knew. He was very concerned that he remembered people on their birthdays, Christmas, and other holidays; and made sure that he sent cards with his own sentimental messages inside.

Dancing was a passion of Joe’s; he was known as quite the western dancer and would look very smart in his western shirts and cowboy boots. Being outside enjoying nature was a true love of Joe’s, especially when part of a family gathering. Joe honored his loved ones who passed before him by ensuring that he took flowers to their graves as much as he could. He lived many years in Clearfield but always loved getting back to his old stomping grounds in Brigham City and Honeyville, UT.

Joe’s kindness continues as he made the decision a long time ago to generously donate his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, 24 May 2024 from 5 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post# 134 located at 345 Depot Street, Clearfield UT.
