Jone Irene Mitchell Nelson

May 28, 2024

7/26/1937 — 5/14/2024

Jone Irene Mitchell Nelson, 86, ended her journey on this Earth with dignity and pride, finally succumbing to the insufferable disease of dementia. She returns into the loving arms of her Father in Heaven, her husband, and her parents.

Jone was born in Salt Lake City to Don and Irene Mitchell. She went to West High School and then married Conrad T. Nelson in 1959. Con was a loving husband, and a wonderful father to her three children.

She was an amazing mother, always putting her children first. She was an involved den mother and regularly volunteered with the PTA. She worked a variety of jobs in her life: she worked as a teacher at the State Industrial School, the IRS, and retired from Thiokol.

She was an avid skier (snow and water) and even skied until she was nearly 60 when she shattered her femur skiing at Powder Mountain. She loved reading, horses, and politics.

She leaves behind a loving family of 3 children (Jeff, Jackie & Ralph, and Kathy & Gordon), 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind 5 siblings (Dawn, Johnny, Mark, Margo, and Micki).

She lived her life for her family, who knew they were loved and will forever be in her care.

She donated her body to the University of Utah for cadaver research.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.myers-mortuary.com.
