Helen Mardell Haws Stuart

Oct 29, 2024

Helen Mardell Haws Stuart had a joyous reunion with her sweetheart and many other loved ones Thursday, October 24, 2024. Helen was born on November 1, 1933, to Garland and Verba in their home in Hyrum, Utah. Her childhood was spent with her four brothers and three sisters on the family farm. She graduated from South Cache High School.

Helen married William Roy Stuart on June 15, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. Mom was anxious to start a family, and they were blessed with five sons and two daughters. Family was important to Helen, and she did her best to create a home where her children and husband would thrive. We always knew that we were loved, and all her children chose to live nearby and visit often. Sundays were a time for family to gather for food and fun.

Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and taught us all through her service and example. She was also a loyal daughter, sister, and foster mom. In addition to being a mom, she also worked at Hill Air Force Base as a sheet metal fabricator for many years.

She had many health challenges from the start of her life but did not let that stop her from doing her best at whatever she did. Mom was creative and blessed with many talents. She shared these talents with others and all her children and grandchildren have pillowcases and quilts that she sewed, and ceramics that they helped create on special fun days at grandma’s. She was known for her cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies, salads, and “grandma juice.” Helen enjoyed gardening and had a love for roses, violets, tomatoes, & raspberries. She would share her bottled jams, beans, and peaches with family and friends.

She worked hard to help fund another love of hers, travel. Helen loved to travel and some of her favorite places to visit were New Zealand, England, and Tahiti.

Helen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings. She found joy serving the children, and in the temple with her husband.

Helen is survived by her seven children, Susan (Brent) Isakson, Gary (Cydnee), Douglas, Denise (Richard) Curtis, Brent (GayAnn), Craig (Teresa), Mark (Cheri); 20 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren, and her sister Bonnie Hall. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy, parents; brothers: Boyd, Varnell, Dale, Ralph; sisters: LuDean, Diane; still-born daughter, Mary Helen, grandson, Todd and great grandson, Daxton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View 4th Ward building, 1325 W. 3035 N., Pleasant View. Friends and family may visit Saturday prior to the funeral service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.

Mom will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
