Merlinda C. Medina

Oct 29, 2024

July 31, 1939 — October 24, 2024

Our beloved mother Merlinda C. Medina passed away on October 24, 2024, in her home surrounded by family located in Washington Terrace. She will forever leave a blessing in our hearts.

Mom was the youngest child born to Abraham and Maria Moreno Cervantes. She was born and raised in the Ogden Valley and attended St. Joseph and Ogden High Schools. She earned her degree in Cosmetology.

She married Arthur Z. Medina and together they raised three daughters, Rita Romero, of Las Vegas, Andrea Neiswender (John) of Washington Terrace, and Lisa Medina (Don) of Layton. Mom and dad took several adventures including road trips, camping and luxury cruises.

She would later retire after many years from Smith Food and Drug. Her most favorite occupation was being a mother and especially a grandmother to her six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She volunteered numerous hours and served as an active member of St. Mary’s and Holy Family Catholic Church. Her charm, companionship, and “Diva” status will be deeply missed by all. After her beloved “Artie” passed, she kept her hobbies of shopping, dining, and church bingo which she enjoyed with her daughters and grandchildren.

Merlinda is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law, John; her six grandchildren, Royce, Ryan, Russell, Brody, Taylor, and Micah; seven great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Cheylinn, Ryker, Remi, Zeke, Nova, and Revyn; her two sisters, Hope Salazar of Ogden and Josie Gomez of Las Vegas; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Cervantes of Garland. She was preceded in death by her favorite dance partner and husband; her parents, Abraham and Maria Cervantes; and her brother, Rudy Cervantes.

Thank you mom and dad for all the wonderful memories.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
