Robert “Bob” Ray DeVries

Sep 13, 2024

Robert “Bob” Ray DeVries, born on March 16, 1938, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2024. Though he may have appeared tough on the outside, those who knew him well understood his deep commitment to his family and his unwavering work ethic. He will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a loyal friend, and a generous soul who regularly gave anonymously to those in need.

Born and raised in Slaterville, Bob grew up on his family farm with multigenerational connections to the community. He graduated from Weber High School and Weber College with a degree in electrical engineering. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Vickie Lynn Cash on April 14, 1978, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After retiring from Hill Air Force Base, Bob continued his service to the community as a bus driver, a role he enjoyed with complete adoration of the neighborhood kids.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie, along with his three children Cory (Kasidy Nelson) DeVries, Shamra (Leland) Aeschlimann, and Brandy (Kelly) Lee, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Fern DeVries, one sister, one brother, and three children, Rebecca, Shad and Trent.

He requested cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity of your choice. Bob lived a good life in the way that he wanted to live it. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
