Marlon Dale King

Apr 29, 2025

May 10, 1957 ~ April 19, 2025

Marlon Dale King, 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on April 19, 2025, in Clinton, Utah.

He is survived by his children: Katie King, Brendon (Emily) King, Brady (Cecilia) King, Elizabeth King, and Ian King; his grandchildren: Noah, Nicoli, Cohen, Miles, Oaklee, Kannon, Kase, Kelly, and Kooper; and his siblings Trisha Madsen, Diane King, and Ryan King.

Born and raised in Murray, Utah, Dale developed a love for learning, service, and art early in life. A proud Eagle Scout, he also played on church sports teams and worked hard to buy his first car, a prized 1974 green Camaro. He had a lifelong talent for painting, beautifully capturing landscapes and nature scenes. He was known among his peers for his kind heart, compassion, and willingness to befriend and stand up for others.

Dale served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nagoya, Japan, where he gained a deep love for the people and culture. When he returned home, he pursued a law degree and graduated from the University of Utah College of Law in 1990. He spent a large part of his career as a Senior Attorney at Lexington Law Firm, where he was admired for his expertise, warmth, and ability to connect with others.

Committed to public service, Dale served two terms on the Clinton City Council, and sat on the Davis County Sewer District Board, championing public safety and city development. Dale was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings throughout his life but especially enjoyed teaching Gospel Doctrine classes, where he had a special talent in conveying complex doctrine with humor and clarity. Despite facing health challenges later in life, his faith never wavered, and he found comfort in scriptures such as Doctrine and Covenants 122:7.

He loved golfing, building model tanks and ships, cheering on BYU, classic movies, and a good political debate–with a special ability to find common ground even in those with opposing views. Dale was a devoted father and grandfather. His children were the center of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to tell them–and others– how proud he was. His children remember him as someone who led by example, instilling important virtues, values, and principles that were important to him, while still bringing his sense of humor and fun to everyday life.
