Dennis Harvey

Dennis Harvey passed away peacefully on the morning of April 28, 2025.

He was born in Tridell, Utah to James Burtrum and Ethel Diantha Glines Harvey on October 12, 1924, the fourth of nine children. He grew up and attended school in Tridell. Dennis graduated from Alterra High School in 1942, then in 1943, he and his brother Jay enlisted in the Navy to serve during World War II. After being discharged in 1946, Dennis returned to Tridell to help on the family farm.

In 1950, he married Deon Rasmussen, from Lapoint, Utah. They were married in a double ceremony with his older brother Jay, who married Veon, Deon’s twin sister. Dennis and Deon celebrated their 73rd anniversary in June 2023, then in August, his lifelong sweetheart, Deon passed away.

Dennis began working at Hill Air Force Base in the machine shop in 1953 as a civilian employee. He remained at HAFB until 1989, when he retired after working for 36 years. In 1955, Dennis and Deon bought their first and only home in Sunset, Utah where they raised eight children and a few grandchildren off and on.

He and Deon enjoyed traveling to places around Utah, which included frequent trips back home to the Uintah Basin. He especially enjoyed attending family reunions, camping with family, and playing card games around the kitchen table.

Dennis was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many Church callings. He had a great love of the scriptures and never doubted his faith.

Dennis is survived by his brother, Orson Harvey, his sister-in-law, Veon Harvey, and his eight children and spouses. Paul (Barbara) Harvey, JoAnn Merkley, Pamela (Kenneth) Womack, Bruce (Gayla) Harvey, Dawn Harvey, Craig (Jaimee) Harvey, Ryan (Nikia) Harvey and Burt (Tanya) Harvey. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Sunset Stake Meetinghouse located at 220 West 975 North Sunset, Utah. With a viewing from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and the funeral at 12:00 pm. Burial at Tridell Cemetery, located in Tridell, Utah at 12:00 pm on Tuesday May 6, 2025.
