She was born November 14, 1935 in Ellendale, ND, to Jacob and Mildred Allen Selzle.

She married the love of her life, Leo Dean Coombs on June 26, 1953. They later brought three beautiful children into the world, Susan (Frank) Gallegos, Michael Coombs & Shari Baker.

Surviving are her two daughters, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren & one sister.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, four sisters, son and son-in-law.

Darla met Dean while working at a restaurant within Lagoon Amusement Park. After her shift, she met up with him and later pushed him into the pond. The rest was history and led to 69 beautiful years of marriage.

Together, she and Dean started their own business and founded D&M Distributing. They achieved great success! It is still run by their family more than 40 years later.

Darla was known for her kindness. She was sincere, generous, tender, and welcoming to all who knew her. She was always listening intently and truly cared about each conversation. Darla was an avid golfer and bowler; she was frequently recognized in the newspaper and secured many trophies. She also enjoyed camping, traveling and playing cards. She loved being with her family most of all. Her family loved her cinnamon toast and endless back scratches.

Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden, on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025. The viewing will begin at 1 p.m. and burial at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration in the atrium.
