In Loving Memory of David L. Eames

Aug 8, 2025

September 17, 1943 — July 31, 2025

If you knew David Eames, chances are he made you laugh–usually with a dry one-liner delivered at just the right moment. He had a sharp wit, a quiet confidence, and a brain that was always working a few steps ahead of everyone else.

David passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. He spent most of his life in Roy, where he graduated from Weber High School and later Weber State College with a degree in Mathematics. He went on to build a long and successful career as a programmer for the U.S. Department of Defense. He worked on software for the Minuteman Missile program and later on the F-16 Fighter Jet. He could code, decode, and recode while juggling a Rubik’s cube. And when he wasn’t cracking digital codes, he was cracking jokes; he knew that laughter was the best program to run in this game called life.

He was a man who appreciated the open road. Travel brought him joy, whether it was a big trip or a spontaneous drive. David loved exploring new places and was always up for an adventure (as long as it came with good food and minimal nonsense).

David is survived by his wife, Mari Eames; his sons, Tod (Rindy) and Aaron (Karlene) Eames, their mother Paula Eames; along with 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Vanessa. David was the oldest of nine children and survived by his siblings Barbara, Glen, Steve, Sue, Joan, Connie and Carol; brother Merrill and parents Darward (Bill) and Sarah also precede him in death. Though he kept things close to the chest, his family knew his love ran deep. He also leaves behind many who will miss his dry humor, quiet brilliance, and the way he could say more in one sentence than most could in five.

His legacy lives on in stories, laughter, and the sharp glint in the eyes of anyone who knew how much he enjoyed a good joke and a clean solution. We’ll miss him–deeply and daily.
