Lynette Allred Staples

1935 — 2025
Lynette Allred Staples, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joy.
Born on January 18, 1935, in Afton, Wyoming, Lynette lived a life marked by devotion to family, education, and service. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, her favorite of which was ward chorister.
In the late 1950s, she married and welcomed two children into the world. After divorcing, Lynette found lasting companionship with Milt Staples, whom she married on March 31, 1965 in the Logan temple. Together, they had five more children.
Her seven children, Karen Holbrook (Greg), Jeffrey Staples (Natalie), Melanie Hamling, Merilie Johnson (Jared), Joe Staples (Kim), Loralyn Staples (Dee), and Owen Staples–were the pride of her life. Lynette’s foresight and determination were evident when, later in life, she earned her master’s degree to support her family after Milt became ill. Her cheery disposition and spunky spirit carried her through life’s challenges with grace and humor.
Lynette was known for her love of music and her infectious sense of humor. She served as a cherished speech therapist for Ogden City Schools, where her compassion and skill touched many lives. Her homemade bread and famous hot cocoa were staples of family gatherings, and her deep appreciation for her Pioneer heritage was reflected in her active membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by many loved ones, including her husband, Milt Staples; her daughter, Melanie Hamling; and her granddaughter, Maya Staples. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
