Janet Rasmussen Reeves

Aug 26, 2025

Janet Rasmussen Reeves, born: March 22, 1939, Died August 24, 2025

Janet Rasmussen Reeves passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 after a brief illness.

Janet was born in Mantua, Utah, and attended school in Mantua and Brigham City. She was active in many school activities at Box Elder high school, including choir and the B’Ettes. She attended Utah State University, worked as a secretary at Thiokol early in her marriage, and was a piano teacher and homemaker.

She married Stewart W. Reeves, July 10, 1959, in the Logan temple. They have six children, and have resided in their current home in Mantua, Utah since 1963.

Mom loved sewing, especially sewing clothes for her children, and for her many dolls. She loved to read, walk outside, play the piano and organ and listen to good music. She enjoyed travel, especially to visit her family, and loved good movies, attending concerts and plays and admiring beautiful art.

It was important to Mom to have a clean home, and she always made the most delicious meals, even though she would say, “It isn’t much.” She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the stake and ward relief society, as a primary and relief society teacher, and as a ward organist for 71 years.

She loved serving a mission with Dad, in the Hamburg, Germany mission from 2001-2003. Mom was especially good at keeping in touch with many friends from their mission service. After their mission, Mom and Dad continued to read the Book of Mormon in German, and this was important and rewarding for Mom.

In addition to mission service, Janet and Stewart served a family services mission from 2011-2013, and as temple ordinance workers in the Ogden and Brigham City temples. This temple service was a highlight for Mom and Dad.

Music was such an integral part of Mom’s life. She made sure that each of her children took piano lessons, and developed other musical interests as well. Mom made sure that music practice was a priority in our home. A favorite fridge quote was “Music touches feelings that words alone cannot.”

Mom is survived by her husband, Stewart Reeves, and children: Todd & LeAnn Reeves, Shelly and Ivan Lindsay, Allyson and Roland Johnson, Lynette Hyer, Ryan & Heidi Reeves, Kristin and Scot Hirschi, and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Also her sister, Shirley & Byron Burnham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Bernice Rasmussen, and her brother and sister-in-law, Hal and Jeanette Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 30, 2025 in the Mantua ward chapel 237 Willard Peak Road Mantua, UT. at noon. A viewing will also be at the chapel that morning from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment in the Mantua, Utah cemetery.
