Janis Gail Phipps Wolsey

Roy – Janis Gail Phipps Wolsey, 82, of Roy, Utah, passed away on August 24, 2025.
She was born on August 29, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, to Roy Phipps and Dora Anema Phipps. Janis graduated from Ogden High School and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as an interior decorator, a profession she loved and devoted over 30 years of her life to.
Janis had a gift for bringing beauty and joy into the lives of others. She was especially known for her “over the top” Halloween and Christmas decorations, which delighted family, friends, and neighbors year after year. An excellent cook, she shared her talents generously, teaching cooking classes for her ward members. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Janis lived her faith through service, creativity, and love for her family.
She is survived by one sister, Rita Walker (Roy Walker), one brother, Clark Phipps (Penny Phipps), and her children: Robert Mills (Patty Jackson), Marsha Humphreys, Sheila Yocum (Craig Yocum), Troy Wolsey (Kathy Wolsey), and Chris Wolsey (Eugene Ostapciuc); her stepchildren Debbie Woolsey Leavitt (James Leavitt) and Tim Woolsey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Phipps and Dora Anema Phipps, Brother, Wilfred Moore, and sisters Sally Marietti, Shirley Lamon, and Karen Williams, and her beloved husband of 48 years, Don C. Wolsey.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Premier Funeral Services, 5335 S. 1950 W., Roy, Utah. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
Janis will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her warmth, sense of humor, creativity, and devotion to family and faith.
