Mona Rae Wood Barker Groendyke, 95, passed away on November 29, 2025, at her home in Perry, Utah. She was born on October 3, 1930, in Brigham City, Utah, to Lucy Ella Wight and George Collin Wood. She attended Box Elder High School and later worked as a human resources representative in the aerospace industry.

Mona married Dean T. Barker on February 5, 1949, together they had 6 children and were married for 22 years. They later divorced. She married Norman Douglas Groendyke in 1971, the love of her life whom she adored. They shared 29 years together, until his passing in 2000. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary.

Mona loved bowling and she bowled all her adult life, even working at the local bowling alley for a period of time. Mona was inducted into the Northern Utah Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed yard work and fishing in Canada. She worked at Thiokol, Storm bowling and Perry Elementary School. She is remembered for her sweet, caring, feisty, kind and witty personality. She loved and cared deeply for her family.

She is survived by her children and step-children: Chris Barker; Larry (Jane) Barker; Jill (Brent) Christensen; Quinn (Debra) Barker; Mitchell (Jill) Barker; Suzanne (Scott) Thomas; Shawna Rae (Daryl) Garn; Gordon Steven Groendyke; Marsha Kathleen Gustafson; Gary Carl (Ginny) Groendyke; and Frederick Paul (Rebecca) Groendyke; Norman Douglas Groendyke Jr.(Deceased). She leaves behind 36 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her brothers and sister; one stepson; one great-grandbaby; a grandson; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Perry Third Ward Church Building. 1290 W. 2950 S. Perry, UT. 84302 A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Myers Brigham City Mortuary 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, UT. 84302 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and prior to the service on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Perry Third Ward Church Building. Interment will be in Brigham City Cemetery.

The family extends special thanks to Ogden Regional Hospital, Brigham City Hospital, and all those who assisted with her care from Bristol Hospice.
