Eileen McConnell Sawyer, 74, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Father in Heaven on December 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born October 24, 1951, in Glendale, California, to James H. McConnell and Viola Catherine Smith.

Raised in El Monte, California, Eileen cherished her childhood and lifelong friends and was grateful to discover her faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which became the foundation of her life.

After moving to Utah, she married and was blessed with six children, whom she devoted her life to. She was a constant and loving presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, supporting them in every endeavor.

Eileen worked many years in the banking industry at First National Bank of Layton, First Security, Barnes Banking, and Zions Bank, where she was known for her kindness, integrity, and genuine care for customers and coworkers.

Eileen is survived by her children, Shannon (John) Bankhead, James (Jennifer) Sawyer, Michael (Crystal) Sawyer, Paul Sawyer, Cliff (Kyleigh) Sawyer, and Chase (Sarah) Sawyer; her siblings, Bruce (Kathy) McConnell, Sheila Melle, Marilyn Anderson, and Quillie Kinard; 21 grandchildren; and her great-grandson, Leo. She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws Norman and Betty Sawyer, who loved her dearly.

Eileen will be remembered for her sunshine-bright spirit, her unwavering faith, and her ability to make everyone feel loved.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Uintah First Ward Chapel, 6660 South 1775 East, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
