Clara LaVon Underwood Bedeger
June 25, 1948 – November 23, 2025
Clara LaVon Underwood Bedeger lived her seventy-seven years with a spirit all her own. Born in 1948, she was known to her family as Clare or Grandma Clare, a woman with a cowgirl’s heart and a playful, unmistakably quirky way of moving through the world. She proudly called herself a “weirdo,” not out of self-mockery but out of joy in being different.
Clare’s yard was her canvas. She was always tending, pruning, or dreaming up her next project, often pausing to laugh at the wild turkeys who visited or grumble at the raccoons who insisted on sharing her space. She loved giving to others, especially during the holidays. Her themed Santa bag gifts and her laughter at the dancing stuffed animals she adored every Christmas were traditions her family will never forget.
She also had a soft spot for the delightfully strange, collecting odd creatures and folk-art treasures that made her smile. Yet to her family, she was not defined by her quirks alone. She was comfort, constancy, and the quiet assurance that even the strangest things can be beautiful.
Clare was fun, generous, and fiercely independent. She never left the house without her hair, nails, and makeup done, and she greeted help with her trademark line: “Thank you until you are better paid.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and LaVon Underwood, her brother Fred, and her son Travis. She is survived by her daughter, Mischelle her husband, Dale, her brother Ricky, grandchildren Kinsey, Jordan, Joshua, and Logan, and great-grandchildren Jaxon and Jayden. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of life will be held in January of 2026 with close family and friends. Details will be shared at a later time.
