Marjorie Ruth Day

May 13, 1938 ~ July 1, 2025
Marjorie Ruth Day peacefully departed this world surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Born on May 13, 1938 in Ogden, Utah, to Wesley and Ruth Tanner Skeen. A devoted woman who lived a life filled with dedication and love, Marjorie will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graduate of Weber High School, Marjorie dedicated much of her life to her family and community. As a young adult she worked as a Switch Board Operator at the Ogden Phone Company and later worked at a garden nursery, where her nurturing spirit blossomed alongside the flowers she tended. For the majority of her life she threw herself fully into the job of being a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her hands were always busy, whether with a garden tool, a sewing needle, or chasing after her grandchildren, who each held a special place in her heart.
Marjorie married her loving husband, John Hatch Day on August 21st, 1959. They were later sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple, and together they had three children.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marjorie served with grace, taking on roles as Primary President, Relief Society President, and was a proud member of the Daughter’s Of Utah Pioneers. She was passionate and involved with her children’s activities growing up, including scouting, young men’s and women’s, and different sports and music. She cheered on her children and grandchildren as their loudest supporter and best friend. Her kindness extended beyond her family; she spent countless hours caring for her ailing husband, John, and her mother, Ruth, at the ends of their lives and always put other’s needs before her own.
Marjorie delighted in spending time outdoors, nurturing her garden, working on her flower beds, reading a good book and enjoying the company of her cats. She loved feeding and watching the birds outside, except the magpies. There was nothing that brought her more joy than being surrounded by family and spending time with her grandchildren as they grew up.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Julie) Day and Susie (Nate) Dunyon; siblings, Bruce Skeen, Bill (Suzanne) Skeen, and Renee Sanders; grandchildren, Josie (Jordan) White, Tanner Day, Nicholas Coburn and Brittney Coburn; and her great-grandchildren, Tailyn Coburn and Jamison Coburn.
Preceded in death by her son, John Curtis Day; her husband, John Day and parents, Wesley and Ruth Skeen.
Marjorie’s life was filled with love, resilience, and a profound caring for her family and friends. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those she touched.
