Larry D. Aders

Jul 11, 2025

Larry D. Aders, 90, of South Ogden, Utah was released from a tired mortal body to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

Born on 2 June 1935 in Berwyn, Illinois to Clyde Aders and Ruth Addington Aders. He was the eldest of 2 sons and was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Tom Aders.

He attended school in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and attended some college courses prior to his military service in the Army during the Korean War. He was a proud United States veteran. After the war, Larry worked at Dugway Proving Grounds and met Doyle Warren, who became his friend and took Larry home with him to Kenilworth, a small town near Price, Utah. Larry was introduced to Doyle’s sister, Ruth, who would soon become Larry’s life companion and wife. They were married on 21 November 1958. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry and Ruth served as Temple Workers in the Manti Temple in their later years. Larry loved the outdoors and loved to go riding in the mountains, especially near Richfield, Utah where he and Ruth lived for a time after retirement. Larry enjoyed keeping up with his friends and family members and relished the time he spent with them. He has been especially lost and lonely since he lost his wife, Ruth, in 2020. We are thankful that they can now be together forever.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and later in Civil Engineering at HAFB. He prided himself on his work ethic and instilled it into his progeny who have all learned to work hard.

Larry had piercing blue eyes that told his feelings more than his words or actions. One knew whether they were loved or despised just by peering into those eyes. He was a big man in stature and personality and will be missed.

Larry is survived by his remaining children: Shari (Scott) Combe, Dawn (Todd) Richins, and Michele (Clint) Thomas. He had 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth and his eldest and only son, Clyde and by Clyde’s wife, Misty as well as those noted previously.

As a family of Larry, we wish to extend a heartfelt note of thankfulness to the team of doctors, nurses, aides, and other staff members who helped us to care for him these last few years. He could be stubborn or irascible but, underneath this façade, if one looked deep enough, you’d find a man who indeed, had a heart and wanted to be loved.

A celebration of Larry’s life together with a long-awaited celebration of our mother will be held on August 13, 2025, at 6-8 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park in the Atrium. The address is 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah. We invite family and friends to join us as we say our final goodbyes to our loved ones, Larry and Ruth Aders, who have touched many lives. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.leavittsmortuary.com.
