Hooper – Stephen G. Marble, 89, passed away at ORMC on Saturday, July 26, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Steve was born in Notom, Utah, May 15, 1936 to Russell Benjamin and Bethena Lay Marble.

He married Josephine Ann Durden on August 4, 1959, on base at Parris Island, SC. They lived in Beaufort, South Carolina, Atlanta, Georgia, Imperial Beach and Coronado, California, and Roy and Hooper, Utah.

Steve was a worker. He started with lawn care and paper routes as a young boy, and joined the Marines at age 17. After 8 years he decided to try civilian life, and sold cookware… the good stuff. He was a member of the LDS church, and served in several callings, including High Priest Group Leader, Executive Secretary, and Sunday School President, but Primary teacher was his favorite.

He was very proud to have served his country. He enjoyed taking part in the Fleet Reserve Association, the American Legion, and retirees’ breakfast gatherings. He had many hobbies, from horses to dogs; from macrame’ to woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his son, Russell (Stacy) Marble, and 8 of his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, his Daughters Brenna (John) West, and Ann (Paul) Allred, one brother, Golden Marble, 9 grandchildren, and soon to be 15 great-grandchildren.
