Patricia Penrod McEntire

Jun 3, 2025

June 24, 1936 – May 27, 2025

Patricia Penrod McEntire passed away on May 27, 2025, in St. George, Utah. She was born on June 24, 1936, in Ogden, Utah, to Leo Robert Penrod and Gladys Leona Stutznegger.

Patricia was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1954. That fall, she attended Weber State College, where she met the love of her life, Glen H. McEntire. They were married on May 12, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The couple made their home in Ogden until 1958, then moved to Roy, Utah, where Patricia lovingly devoted herself to raising their two children. She had previously worked at Fred M. Nye as a salesclerk, but happily stepped away from her career to become a full-time mother. In 2001, she and Glen built their dream home in Clinton, Utah. They later moved to St. George in 2016, to be closer to their children.

Patricia was active in her community, participating in organizations such as the Lady Lions Club, Junior League of Utah, and the PTA. She was a talented gardener and an avid bowler at Jo Lee Lanes in Roy, where she once bowled an impressive 250 game–earning her name a place on the wall. She also loved riding her Yamaha 125 Enduro motorcycle, always up for an adventure.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Patricia served faithfully in many callings. She was the Junior Sunday School Coordinator and later spent over a decade teaching the cherished 4-year-olds. In 1991, she and Glen were called to serve a mission at the Salt Lake Temple Square and completed their service in 1993.

Patricia and Glen shared a love for travel, crisscrossing the United States in their motorhome with friends and family. Of all their destinations, the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in central Utah held a special place in her heart. Patricia made every trip memorable–cooking favorite meals, creating joy-filled experiences, and even hopping into a sand rail or 4-wheeler for a ride.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Glen (2018), her parents, her sister Marilyn Downs, and her brother Norman Penrod.

She is survived by her daughter Peggy McEntire Stevens (Mark), and her son G. Bruce McEntire (Betty), along with 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as “Gram.” She is also survived by her brothers Richard, Clarence, Donald, and Dennis Penrod (Devra); and sisters-in-law Diann Roberts and Janice Ingalls.

Patricia will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her deep faith, and the boundless love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she created.
