Douglass Scott Cannon

1954 – 2025
Douglass Scott Cannon, 70, died June 2, 2025, after having a stroke. He was born on August 25, 1954, in Huntington Beach, California, to his parents Richard Lorraine and Ruth Ann Bench Cannon. He has an older brother, Glenn, and two younger siblings, Daniel and Susan. The family eventually moved to Buena Park where Doug attended school and was an excellent student. He also enjoyed singing in the choirs, theatricals and athletics. With his two brothers he loved doing pranks of all kinds which especially annoyed the neighbors and his parents.
At an early age he read the Book of Mormon completely through and with prayer and study he received a witness of the doctrines contained in it which he never wavered from. His testimony was a guiding force throughout his life, and he never hesitated in sharing it with others. He served a two-year mission in Munich, Germany from 1974 to 1976, and loved the German people so much. He was truly a gospel scholar through his many years of study.
He loved the Savior with all his heart and was constantly trying to follow Him by helping people who were less fortunate. He spent many hours on genealogy work and did the temple work for many of his ancestors. He also served in many church callings which he always gave his best.
On March 18, 1977, he married Suann Cook Cannon in the Los Angeles Temple. Then they made their home in Harrisville, Utah in 1979. He loved her perfectly, always treating her like a queen. No one remembers him losing his temper or saying unkind things about another person. He was a wonderful, hardworking provider. He has one daughter, Jamie, one son, Mark, three grandchildren: Korbin, Grant, Tylie and one great-grandson, Eastyn. He loves them without measure and longs for us to be a forever family.
His kindness and generosity had no bounds. He gave freely to the poor and helped those in need. Even as his health declined, he continued to attend church, the temple and doing his assignments.
He is the rock and joy of our family. We look forward with great joy to the day when we can embrace him and be with him again.
