Kurt Duane Miller

Jun 5, 2025

It is with the deepest sorrow and affectionate remembrance that we announce the passing of Kurt Duane Miller at home on April 19, 2025, with his beloved wife, Julie, and his son, Tyler, by his side. Born on March 11, 1969, in Ogden, Utah, to Reed and Annette Miller, Kurt was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Kurt lived his life with joy and happiness. His charismatic personality, integrity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the good fortune to cross his path. He was a man who lived his life to the fullest. His generous heart and fun ways made each interaction with him a delightful memory.

Kurt had 3 children with his first wife, Kathy, before they divorced. He later met the love of his life and became the devoted husband to Julie, whom he married in 2014. Their love story was filled with joy, laughter, mutual respect and so many amazing adventures; lasting from the moment they met in 2008 until his passing. In their shared journey of 18 years, Kurt’s loving nature was evident in his unwavering dedication and devotion to her.

Early in his professional life Kurt worked for his stepdad Jim, collaborating with his older brother Reed on creating fiberglass projects. For the last 26 years of his life, he served in various capacities for the State of Utah. He was honored to support the National Guard at Camp Williams as a civilian/State employee. He enjoyed his years working with the Division of Facilities and Construction Management. He worked for Health and Human Services, initially with Family Dental Clinic, and then later as a Facilities Coordinator. He was proud of his work with the Division of Natural Resources as part of the Northwest Parks Team. He especially loved participating in the yearly Bison Roundup on Antelope Island. In each capacity, Kurt’s charismatic personality and keen sense of humor brought a unique energy to his work environment, making him a favorite among his colleagues.

Kurt resided in Utah his entire life, where he touched many lives with his generosity, mischievous spirit and of course his many “Kurt-isms”. He loved to travel with Julie, having many adventures by plane, train, and automobile. Kurt loved NHRA drag racing, was a die-hard Raiders fan his entire life, and loved ’80’s heavy/progressive metal, but especially Queensryche. Two of the many highlights in his life was to have met Lyle Alzado (Raiders) and Geoff Tate (Queensryche) in person.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Julie; his father, Reed (Pat); his mother, Annette; his twin brother, Jeff; his brother-in-law, Gary; his sisters Jodie (Don), and Kellie, his sons, Tyler (Jen) and Brian; his daughter, Shanda; and many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his stepdad, Jim, and his older brother, Reed.

In remembrance of Kurt, we hope you will join us in celebrating his life at a later date.

Until then, we encourage all who knew him to share their memories and photographs on the memorial page. Your contributions will serve as a lasting tribute to the funny, loving, and amazing man that was Kurt.
