Jun 6, 2025

Ronald Lee Morse, 84, passed away on June 3, 2025, at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden.

He was born April 28, 1941, in Stone, Idaho, to Evan C. and Clara Steed Morse. Ron spent his early years in Stone, Tremonton, and Brigham City, before his family settled in Farr West in 1951. He attended Wahlquist and Weber High Schools and later served his country as a proud member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On July 10, 1964, Ron married Maureen Hall, with whom he had two sons, Bobby and Michael. They later divorced. On November 10, 1972, he married Sharlain Long Nielsen in Elko, Nevada. With Sharlain came her children–Sherry, Tammy, and Travis–whom Ron loved as his own. Together they welcomed daughter Ronda and made their home in Ogden.

Ron cherished his family, friends, and beloved pets, Nonie, Pepe, and Pixie.

Throughout his career, Ron worked for Northern Utah Glass, Moyes Glass, Thiokol, and Fife Construction. He especially enjoyed driving trucks, proudly hauling triples with 32 wheels on the ground. An outdoorsman at heart, he loved camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, working on old cars, and listening to country music.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sharlain; children Bobby Morse, Michael Morse, Sherry (Billy) Hinds, Tammy (Jack) Gilmore, Travis Nielsen, and Ronda Barrientos; brother Joe (Janice) Morse; sisters Carol Jensen, Sharon McEntire, and Vicki Lamb; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with whom he treasured every moment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Gerald Tom Taylor; brothers Ted and DeVon (Bob) Morse; grandson Jordan Morse; and in-laws Clyde and Virginia Long.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Tuesday, June 10, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Ogden City Cemetery, 20th and Madison.
