In Loving Memory of Paul Scott Lane

Jun 9, 2025

September 12, 1941 – May 29, 2025

Our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, Paul Scott Lane, known to family and friends as “Scott,” passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 83 surrounded by loved ones.

Scott was born in Ogden on September 12, 1941. He was a steady presence–a guiding hand through life’s challenges. His wisdom, willingness to help, and devotion shaped the lives of those around him.

Scott served proudly in the United States Air Force as an F-4 pilot, completing three tours in Vietnam. His courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty were hallmarks of a life lived in service to both country and family. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his love of flying by serving as a corporate pilot with Morton Thiokol and Cordant Technologies, where he brought the same excellence, professionalism, and steady hand that defined his military career.

Scott’s life was significantly altered by a skiing accident in 2001, which greatly impacted his life and brought unexpected limitations. Although he was unable to pursue many of the dreams he had envisioned for retirement, he met the challenge with quiet strength. He found joy in simple things and the beauty of nature, as well as in visits from his children and grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and comfort.

Outside of his work and service, Scott enjoyed the hands-on satisfaction of fixing things and was always ready to lend his skills to a project or family member in need. He cherished time spent camping and fishing, while connecting with the outdoors where he felt most at peace.

Scott is survived by his devoted wife, MaryAnn Lane; daughter, Kristin Lane Stephens; sons, Mitch Lane and Matt Lane (wife April); sisters Barbara Mei and Peggy Lane, cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul James Lane; his mother, Vera Lillian Donoviel; and brothers, John Clark Lane and Randy James Lane.

A Remembrance of Life will be held on Monday June 23rd, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary of Ogden. The Remembrance will begin with Military Honors at 4:00 pm, as we gather to pay tribute to Scott’s service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to DAV.ORG
