Jun 17, 2025

May 8, 1950 — June 14, 2025

Lisa passed away unexpectedly on June 14th from a tragic fall at her home in Salt Lake City. No words can express the shock and sorrow felt by her family, friends, and acquaintances.

Lisa was born in Munich, Germany. She and her daughter Stephany, immigrated to the United States in 1975. Although they became US citizens, Lisa and Stephany never lost their German roots. Lisa met her husband Bill in 1976 and they were married in 1978. In 1982 they welcomed their daughter Alexis. They were planning to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary in September. 47 years of exploring and enjoying life, the world, and the people she met. Lisa loved to travel and often accompanied Bill on business trips to Asia and Europe. Lisa was a bright, intelligent, strong woman who influenced everyone she met.

Lisa was an avid gardener who took pride in her plants, herbs, and this year, lettuce. The patio and decks of her home are filled with color. She also loved to cook, particularly Thai food. Her Tom Kha Gai soup was famous. Even better were her Wiener Schnitzel and potato salad.

Lisa studied psychology at Weber State University and was a member of Mensa. She was also a fine artist. Her pencil sketches and watercolors still grace the walls of her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith McGovern, her half-sister Sissy Gant, and her aunt Sieglinde Ashmann who was her closest confidant. She is survived by her husband Bill, daughters Stephany and Alexis, half-brothers Mike Jacks, Buddy Jacks, Ed Pavelt, brothers-in-law Phill Poce (Rita) and Pat Poce (Deon Gooch), and her beloved cats Levi and Layla.

Lisa’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony by family and close friends at Leavitt’s Mortuary in Ogden, Utah.
