Deon Cox Anderson
Deon Cox Anderson, passed away peacefully at her home on June 24, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born on December 29, 1931, in Hooper, Utah. Deon was an example of compassion, support, and reliability. Her life was an enduring testament to her faith, resilience, and the immeasurable love she had for her family and community. She was a symbol of warmth and kindness to all, exhibiting a unique blend of talent and dedication in everything she did.
She met her eternal companion while both were attending BYU in Provo, Utah and they were married on May 31, 1957 in the Logan LDS Temple.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served over the years including in the women’s Relief Society group at both the ward and stake level, always willing to lend a helping hand. She shared her love of music throughout many callings, continuing her family’s legacy with music. Deon participated in the church sports programs, playing softball and volleyball. Additionally, she served as a missionary for the church two different times. First, when she was 21, to the Eastern States Mission, during which she participated in the Palmyra Pageant. Then with her husband in Western Samoa with the Church Education System.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Nola Cox; her husband, Raymond; and two siblings, Gordon Cox and Evelyn Cox. She is survived by three siblings; Ann (Dave) Russell, Fred (Cathye) Cox, and Janice (Don) Thompson. She is also survived by her children: Mel (Nina) Anderson, Joyce Anderson, Evonne (Blair) LaBarge, Sharon (Steven) Morrison, and Phil (Dixie) Anderson; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Ward LDS Building, 2431 N. 250 W., in Sunset. Family and friends may call on Monday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Hooper City Cemetery following the service.
