John Allan “Jack” Cox Jr.

John Allan “Jack” Cox Jr., 90, of Huntsville, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2025. Born in Salt Lake City, he grew up in Ogden, Utah, the eldest of eight children.
Jack married Barbara Wangsgard in 1954, and they raised seven children while living in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Utah. After Barbara’s passing, he married Karla King Church in 2011, sharing 14 loving years together.
Jack earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University and worked as a respected tool engineer.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including Branch President, Bishop and member of the Stake Presidency. He enjoyed his many years serving in the Family History Library, and one of his greatest joys was working as a temple ordinance worker for 22 years. His faith, sharp mind, and love for family shaped his life.
He is survived by his wife, Karla, 7 children, 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; parents; his brother, Bob; and sister, Merlyn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Huntsville 1st Ward Chapel, 277 South 7400 East. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment Huntsville Cemetery.
