Marilyn Joyce Anderson Swedin was born on April 22, 1941, in her grandmother’s house in Hurricane, Utah. She passed away on April 16, 2025, in her oldest son’s house in South Weber, Utah, from causes related to age and dementia.

She married Stanley Gottfrid Swedin in 1962, and they were later divorced in 1996. She is survived by her four children, Eric (Betty), Marilee (Mark), Derek (Rebecca), and Sean (Cindy), 15 grandchildren, and her first great-grandchild, Aspen, was born three days after her passing. She is also survived by her younger brother and younger half-sisters.

Marilyn was a selfless, kind, and loving person. She enjoyed reading books and magazines, travel, and spending time with her family. She was sensitive and artistic and had ambitions as a painter and a writer. She was a skilled seamstress. After attending four colleges/universities, Marilyn graduated with an AS in home economics, and a BIS in English, history, and art. She strongly supported education for herself and her children. Marilyn was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a proselytizing mission in South Carolina after her divorce.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Mendon Cemetery, 25 North 200 West, Mendon, Utah, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. at Marilyn’s former LDS Meetinghouse, 20 N 100 W, Mendon, Utah.
