Elaine Allington

May 7, 2025

Elaine Allington, known affectionately by her loved ones as “Gramma Lane” and “Nanny Nainey,” stepped into the light of eternity on May 3, 2025. She was born Helen Elaine Jensen on March 6, 1927, in Ogden, UT. She married the love of her life, Ben Allington, on Aug 21, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Elaine was a loving, dedicated, funny, and humble woman whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A lifelong resident of Utah, Elaine dedicated her professional life to Weber State College in the Cosmetology Department. Even after retirement, her commitment to serving others continued, reflected in her favorite religious calling, serving in the Primary. Elaine found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and her hobbies were a testament to her loving nature. She was famous for her fudge and caramels, and she enjoyed sewing, shopping, road trips and baking. She enjoyed spending time at the Ogden Boat Club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Pinochle Club. Her favorite pastime, however, was playing games with her family and watching her son play softball.

Elaine is survived by her brother Glen (Naudine) Jensen, children Karen (Ron) Skinner, Susan Wheeler, Kim (Jay) Whimpey, and Scott (Jan) Allington, 23 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and her dear friend Linda Herget. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ben, her parents Howard and Helen Jensen, sister Donna (Jimmy) Harlin, her son-in-law Chuck Wheeler, and her grandson Wes Allington.

The viewing will be held on Thursday evening May 8, 2025, from 6-8 p.m., at Myers Mortuary – 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, UT. Funeral services will be held at Myers Mortuary at 11 a.m., Friday, May 9, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. preceding the funeral services.
