September 1, 1940 — May 1, 2025

Kay A. Henley, a beloved educator and cherished community member, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. Born on September 1, 1940, in Ogden, Kay spent her entire life in the area, touching countless lives with her passion for teaching and her generous spirit.

She was a mother of three daughters and a grandmother of four grandchildren.

Kay earned her master’s degree in English from Weber State University and dedicated her career to inspiring students as an English teacher. She taught at Sandridge Jr. High and retired from Weber High School, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the students she taught. Even in retirement, she tutored young students, helping them improve their reading skills.

Kay had a passion for gardening, reading, and knitting. She enjoyed golfing, square dancing, and running in her younger years. Remarkably active at 84, she would go to the gym weekly, finding joy in moving her body. Kay’s love for travel took her around the world, but Monterey, CA, always held a special place in her heart.

She treasured the friendships she made at the gym and valued every moment spent with them. Her friends were essential to her life and happiness.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Kay’s memory by performing an act of kindness. You can also donate to the Better Food Foundation, which works toward creating a more sustainable food system, at www.betterfoodfoundation.org.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be announced at a later date. All who knew her will fondly remember her beautiful smile, warmhearted spirit, and dedication to others.
