Virginia Ann Wilde Breitenbeker

May 9, 2025

February 22, 1932 – May 6, 2025

Virginia Ann Wilde Breitenbeker (Breitenbuecher), 93, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 while a resident of Maple Springs in Brigham City, Utah. It was a bittersweet day that she was released from the bonds of dementia which so cruelly gripped her mind the past several years. Virginia was born the fifth of six children to Lawrence Dare Wilde, Sr. and Keren Margaret Skidmore Wilde on February 22, 1932, in Brigham City, Utah. After graduating as high school sweethearts, she married DeVon Louis Breitenbeker on June 11, 1951, in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were married for over seventy years prior to his passing in 2021. Virginia raised their four children: Bob, David, Becky, and Lisa in a loving and gospel centered home. She also fostered her two adopted nephews for a time while her sister, Phyllis, was overcoming health issues. She served in many capacities in the church, but her cherished calling was as the Primary Chorister where she served in multiple wards for many years. In their retirement years DeVon and Virginia served as missionaries in the London England mission of the church and as ordinance workers in both the Ogden and Brigham City temples.

A talented interior designer, Virginia joined her husband and sons in the operation of Breitenbeker’s Fine Furniture. Her expertise brought gracious beauty to many homes in the Brigham City area. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Civic Improvement Club. Virginia was also a talented vocalist and never hesitated to share her talent with her church and community. She was a consummate hostess and was always eager to open her immaculately kept home for gatherings of both family and friends.

Virginia was one of the few remaining members of the Box Elder High School Class of 1950. She remained lifelong friends with many of her classmates and fondly remembered the annual Labor Day reunions at Bear Lake with Maynard and Carol Victor, Bill and Mary Call, Vernon and Marilyn Watkins, Max and Jeanne Hamilton, and Bill and Jeanette Robbins.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Devon Breitenbeker; her siblings, Lawrence Dare Wilde Jr., Richard Albert Wilde, Keren Margaret Wilde, Phyllis Marian House Schultz; a grandson, Bryan Jensen; and a great grandson, Richard DeVon Breitenbeker.

At the time of her passing, Virginia is survived by her brother, Jerry Wilde; her four children and their spouses, Robert (Marianne) Breitenbeker, David (Karen) Breitenbeker, Rebecca (Dick) Whittier, Lisa (Jeff) Call; 16 grandchildren; and 39 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Maple Springs of Brigham City and CNS Hospice for their kind and loving care of our mother and grandmother. Their assistance in caring for Virginia was invaluable.
