Brenda Sue Turner Rawson
1947 – 2025
Our friend, confidant, partner, beloved mother and Oma, Brenda Sue Turner Rawson, passed away unexpectedly on May 7th in Ogden, UT due to natural causes.
She was born to Kirk B and Dorothy Fern Turner on May 24th, 1947 in Lansing, Michigan. A year later, her parents moved to an acreage outside of Lubbock, TX where she lived until she graduated from high school in May 1965. She went to college at BYU and spent a couple of semesters at Church College of Hawaii, now BYU-Hawaii and Texas Tech. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in English from BYU in May 1970. She later earned her Master’s Degree in English from USU in May 2002.
At the beginning of her last semester at BYU, she met the love of her life, dancing partner and best friend, Sam Rawson at a dance. They were married in June 1970. They would have celebrated 55 years of dancing next month.
Mom loved her flower gardens, traveling, reading and hand work. She was a master seamstress. She also loved to cook and read cookbooks as if they were novels. But above all, she was madly in love with her husband, cherished her children and adored her grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of LDS Church. She was a woman of faith and a firm believer in the power of a Mother’s Prayer.
She is survived by her husband, Sam; her children Jenny (Rene) Venegas of Ogden UT, Jeff Rawson of Ogden, UT, Troy (Karen) Rawson of Lebanon, OR and Shelly Rawson of Lebanon, OR as well as her grandchildren, Emi, Henry and Ella. In addition, she is survived by her sister Judy Turner of Lehi, UT as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her beloved parents, aunts Gladys Ingram and Grace (Mark) Bethal.
